It sure has been awhile...

Wow! October was my last entry. We have yet to start on the bathroom remodel, the landscaping is non-existent, and we need to save up a bunch more $$$$. Maybe if I post some pre-pics of the bathroom and ugly dirt/grass that would help things move along. Stay tuned!

Wow! Things have been really busy here. I have yet to take the last of the pics. I have a three day weekend, so I'm sure I'll post them by Sunday. We are now saving up $$$ for phase 2 of our project(bathroom and foyer). Barry still has a weekend's worth of finishing touches on the electric and 'phase 1' will be complete. Landscaping is still a huge project in our very near future(before the weather changes). We got alot of cool ideas and can't wait to find time to get started! I am still searching for the right finishing touches for the bedrooms. Hopefully, by Thanksgiving we should be able to breathe a little--just a little. It's hard to believe we have been here 2yrs this coming Oct. Hope all is well with everyone. Stay tuned!

The outside work has been completed!

I have to take the last of the pics since all of the outside work is done! We are very pleased with the last of the finishing touches. Scott did an exceptional job. Our new garage door is ordered and should be here in a few weeks. We have some interior light fixtures to finish and some clean up in the attic and basement, then we can breathe. The landscaping will be completed slowly throughout the summer as time and $$$ allows. Grandma is doing really good. She likes the quiet, but misses having the guys working outside (I think it was really entertaining for her to watch/monitor the progress). This weekend I plan to start sanding and hopefully painting the old swing for the back porch. Please come join me sometime soon for some fresh ice tea and and old-fashioned swing ride. Stay tuned for the final house pics! I'll post the landscaping pics throughout summer.

Just about done...

As you can see, so much has happened since my last post. Once all of the siding is on, the railing and spindles will go up on both porches. The last thing to complete will be the garage roof. Then we can just sit and enjoy it all. Gram is doing well. We are all anxious for everything to be done.(Abby included) We will still put in the garden this year, but the landscaping around the house will probably have to wait. I'm really excited about that part, but just too tired! We have a few landscaping ideas that should turn out pretty nice. We have plenty of time for that kind of fun stuff.

Can you find our guard dog in the pic?

how about that siding?

more and more getting done!

just about done with both porches

All we need now are a few stairs and the wrap around porch can be used once again! The wood ceiling, recessed lighting and decking are all complete and look great! We had to special order the boards for the steps facing the back yard since they are longer, but it should be all complete soon! Unfortunately, the rain has really slowed things down. Another big step is that Barry was able to till the garden!!! Since most of the materials are now on the house, the garage is looking like a garage again and not a warehouse. The guys have to do the trim on some more windows, put on the new storm doors, gutters and finish the siding yet. I'll take more pics soon. You aren't going to believe the new back porch! It's just beautiful. The brackets and supports are up for the old swing. We just have to sand and paint it. The new socket meter is up as well. I'll post more pics soon. Stay tuned!

rain, rain, go away

Well, I think I jinxed us. It's raining today, which puts a hold on the outside work as well as the electric work. Things are still moving along well. Hopefully, all work(house and new garage roof) should be completed in 3wks, depending on the weather. If so, we will have all summer to enjoy it. We must get busy in the garden, but the tiller is buried. I keep telling myself, 'soon enough'. Grandma is doing well and continues to worry about everything. If she didn't worry about everything, then we would worry, 'what's wrong with Gram?'.

wrap around porch roof is about done!
