carpet alert!

I went to the carpet store today and since Gram didn't want to choose the colors for her room, I brought several samples home for her to look at. She keeps saying "It's up to you guys." However, she was quick to pick a very pretty carpet called 'crushed violet' for her room. This was a huge step! We are going with Barry's favorite, as well as mine, a nice darker green for our room. The third bedroom will probably be some type of beige. The hallway and stairs will have the same carpet that is downstairs. Dan, the painter and drywall man, is coming on Tues. and will start in Gram's room. I'm not going to know what to do without all this retro wallpaper! I think that is all for now, but keep checking!

go away snow!!

They started to prep the house for siding today. The house roof was going to be next, but with all the snow, that's impossible. The new shingles are really nice. I think they are called dimentional?--several shades of green. Very pretty. The insulation man should be coming soon to insulate the entire house. I can't wait, we are really using the oil! Keeping the house at a hot 72-74 degrees for gram keeps the furnace running! Barry and the guys are just about done with the wiring. I am trying to keep the dust from building up(with the help of our lovely Karen). Abby does an excellent job of getting in the way and leaving her toys in the middle of what looks like a war zone(at times). She is lucky she's sooo cute and lovable!

Interior demo started!

Well, the snow set us back a day or two but things are moving along. Barry, Andy, Jake, and I(i'm the official clean-up girl) tore down the old drop ceilings in the dining room and living room. The foyer ceiling was tore down to the studs since the plumber has to get to all the pipes to remodel the bathroom above. Our plans have altered slightly with the bathroom. We may put the bath on hold for a few months since we have decided to get a new roof for the house as well as the garage. The guys continue to work very hard on all the new electric throughout the entire house. I took pictures of the new front porch frame today and will post them shortly. Interior pics will soon be posted as well.

Finally, things are underway! I'll post pictures and updates of the renovations as time allows. Keep checking! The front porch was removed before the Christmas holiday. They are starting to dig the footers for the front porch today. My goal is to document and photo every step of the way!
